Beverly Jo Scott was born in Alabama, in the deep South of the USA.
After a childhood marked by gospel, country music and the blues, she left everything behind her at 17 and, taking with her only her guitar, she headed for Chicago, Milwaukee, New Orleans, and California.
An eagerness to discover new horizons took her even further when she decided to go and see for herself what the old continent looked like.
It was almost by accident that she arrived in Belgium, a small and strange country, unknown to her. She was also penniless.
For the first few months, she lived on the streets where she sang with her guitar for only companion.
From the street, she moved on, singing in restaurants and small clubs, where she met a great many musicians. She bluffed her way into a recording studio, passing herself off as "a great backing vocalist from the USA"... and it worked wonderfully thanks to her exceptional voice and her gospel background!
She soon became one of the most valued voices in the recording studios .
Besides being an excellent way for her to earn a living, she took real pleasure in using her voice to enter a different world. This new career led her to sing duets or to work in partnership or as a back-up singer with a great variety of artists from different backgrounds. Among these are : Niagara, Chamfort, Mauranne, Sparks, Bill Pritchard, Adamo, Toots Thielemans, Laviller, Arno, Elliot Murphy, Bruce Springsteen, Zap Mama...
She went on writing, composing and recording her first single in French "C'est extra" with Léo Ferré.
The success achieved by this first short-play in Belgium enabled her to record her first album, "Honey & Hurricanes" (Sony), presented in the autumn of 1991.
The album not only unveiled the extraordinary potential of a truly exceptional voice, but also brought out her talent as a composor and artist.
It also enabled her to tour Europe and to sing in the opening of Paul Young's concerts in the spring of 1992, displaying her extraordinary gift as a stage artist.
With her second album "Mudcakes" (October '93) and the rave review that followed (see Press Review), Beverly finally received the international acclaim she deserved.
Since then, Beverly Jo Scott has been invited to perform on numerous European stages, by small clubs and big festvals alike.
Often considered as a revelation, each of her appearances on stage triggered the enthusiasm of the public and press.
After a two-year tour with the Mudcakes she released a live CD Wailing Trail recorded in Brussels on 2nd and 3rd June.
She dedicated 1997 and 1998 essentially to the preparation of her next CD "Amnesty for Eve" (together with the same team).
She continued travelling and singing in about 50 concerts, at clubs, and festivals in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Singapore and the USA.
These concerts saw some memorable moments for B.J., as for example a great festival in Switzerland with Neil Young and an intimate concert with Roger McGuinn (The Byrds) in her native town.

On 8th January 1999, a promotion single (not for sale) was released
...."Jean Baltazaarrr"...
A surprising and explosive duet with our beloved ARNO.
It is a medley of "La Fille du Père Noël" by Dutronc and "Jean Genie" by Bowie, and it could, together with its video clip, be the CD of the beginning of the year 1999.
On 5th February 1999, a further new album will be released
"Amnesty For Eve"
It goes through a spectrum of emotions, from extreme pain in "Chain Link Fence" to funk-erotic frenzy in "Monalisa Klaxon".
B.J. also pleased herself by offering 4 songs in French (part of a mini CD bonus : "French Kiss").

To celebrate the album's release with her musicians and public, B.J. will go on tour throughout Belgium for a "Release party club tour".
